On Routers, Switches, and Hubs.

The LinkSYS router, BEFW11S4, is a disgusting piece of crap. I, and apparently many others, have no idea the product managed to pass through the QC let alone the testing phase. It's supposed to be such a good company. Talk about regressing technologically.

This is the router that comes with the Starhub package.
Talk about spreading problems thru popular means.

I did manage to fix some other problems and I managed to finally get full blazing download speeds of up to 18500++Kbps. But the main problem is the router keeps on hanging. It just freezes up. It becomes like it's not there. No Firmware update seems to have fixed it.
Sometimes even when it's "working" it refuses to distribute an IP addy. The best part was that after installing an update, "recommended" by that Filipino twit who was a nut-of-a-customer-service-agent, all the computers refused to appear the the DHCP Client table. Apparently, other people in other countries also face this problem, the customer service part too.

According to some people, the lousy and snobbish and contradictory Linksys tech support people said that changing the MTU will work. Theoretically, it should lower the chances of the thing hanging but "lowering it is not fixing it", as one guy noted. Absolutely crappy.

Linksys, you blew your chances with me. You won't see me ever again. Anybody fancy SMC or USRobotics?

My other US Robotics router seems to have lost it's ability to do anything other than be a hub. Odd considering that I didn't change anything.

I'm now surviving on that dumb faulty router and a linked switch.

Itchy balls to the Idiot who let that product even enter the mainstream market. Rotten balls to the Jackass that promoted it, let it stay in the market, and allowed it to continue being produced, even till today.

Today

I screwed up big time. Today's OC presentation didn't go too well. I forgot my lines and the layout wasn't flowy enough. Considering, however, that i did everything last night, well... Not bad actually. But that's not the point. I kept making references to the screen. It was all I could do not repeat what could have been found on the screen. On a side note, i think i should have given more examples of how those people were killed. It seemed the part of an attention-getter. The odd thing was that i was not in the least nervous. That surprised me too. My friends said that i quivered at some parts. Although i couldn't recall it, thinking back, it may have been possible at those parts where i had forgotten what to say. The joke of it all, was that my lecturer apparently believed that i was nervous because I put my thumbs in my pockets... C'mon lah. I always do that. Even in the train I do that. Even if I didn't do that all the time, i highly doubt that that means one is nervous. Even commercials do that lor.

WeiZhen got caught in my trap. I asked her a question and she affirmed it. Unfortunately, eager to please and appease, she commited herself to that answer without conviction. i.e. Don't say things that you don't believe in. The complications are usually the similar to other negative actions. On the other hand, i do believe she meant what she said there so most probably the error was in the powerpoint itself. Must have been eager to fill up the slides eh? Sorry Wei Zhen. I had to do it. No hard feelings?

Kah Peng on the other hand did rather well. She spoke fluently and with utter conviction. Well at least it seemed like that. Bravo.

Josel did a fine job in disguising and hiding her nervousness thru misdirection. It was CK in fact who pointed out to me that her hands were quivering. I was astonished by the fact that her voice showed no indication of it whatsoever. Jolly good. Cheers.

Sigh.... My Windows applications keep on crashing on me. So much for the triangle of software. Microsoft seems to be leaning to neither security, ease of use, nor functionality. Odd indeed.

Life

Now when i think about it, i wonder would it would have been like... if I had gone to JC.
Poly life is not what i had imagined it would be... It's like they don't care about you in there...

My system keeps on crashing.... An upgrade is in the works....
I'm aiming for one of those portable DVD players.... Then can watch movies in the train.

Home affairs are rather down now... Some domestic affairs have yet to be resolved...

Uploaded my semi-finished webp project to the MadServe server. http://www.fusionstream.simeicng.com Layout and content-wise, it's not so super. But the amount of code and the structure, is rather immense for such a small website. Oh well, always be prepared for upscaling i guess...

On an ironic note, scientists have discovered that writing out(or typing out for that matter) your feelings is bad for your health.

As for a certain indivual in my class, all I can say is although he is kinda innocent, he's getting on my nerves.... It irritates me... But the veracity is, if you take any action, you'll feel bad afterwards. The options vary and grow with each passing moment and some are not that palatable either.

As for another indivual, my advice is. Don't talk so much. When the time has come for you to have achieved something, then if you wanna let the world know, by all means go ahead. If not, stop asking stupid questions that you don even understand let alone answers that you are not able to comprehend. Take baby steps. If you keep on trying to take big strides, you're gonna keep on falling down and you'll never get there in time[p.s. My own proverb :-)].
You're past achievements mean nothing and i don't mean currently. I mean from the time you got them they were useless. They are bigger and brighter people than you. The power of persuasion and subversion is manifesting itself. Material and social standing have no place in it's domain.

On another note, i'm really happy that i got 76 for DBMS. Considering that i did not study for it. Apparently, my Sec School tactic still works.

XiaXue was saying how she hated choosing to go to poly and that she didn't even have the chance to say that she could have at least gone to JC because in truth, she couldn't. Trust me, it's worse than you could imagine. Day after day the thought plagues your mind. The "What-Ifs" roll thru your consciousness.... It's now worth it.

I have more to say actually, but i fear that some fuckwits(oops.... i meant dimwits) may fail to comprehend the matter as a whole. I shall divulge information no further, lest they conclude what i mean...

BJ Fishing.

Kena sai. Yesterday was not a particularly good fishing day. What to do? The tides were not that good anyway. Caught one kuning. And a miserable 5 tambans. Although we caught a whole lot of other small, spiny fish. Snagged my jig three times, and finally lost it on the last snag.

Aiming to get a Skipping license.

No movement on the bigger rod. Had a few nibbles. Lost an expensive rig(brand new some more). Lost the impact shield. It's was like throwing a dollar into the unresponsive ocean.
When i hooked the live tamban, i began to remember how awful they used to stink. When i finally ran out of tambans, i took one of the small poisonous fish and wanted to hook it up. But then i thought, if it's poisonous maybe no fish would eat it. I thought of filleting it but i didn't want to torture the fish. So i cut of it's head instead and hooked up the rest of the body. They're quite a hardy fish actually, Of all the rest that i caught, when put into the box, they survived for quite long. The bloody sun scorched me again. I think i should coin a new phrase for ppl like me: "Nice burn lines!"

Went to changi village after that. Bought quite a lot of stuff there.. Visited all four shops there. I think i want to start my own shop there also. Got 2 medium quality hard lures. Triple hook ends. Bought a few medium heavy weights. I also bought a fish trap. I'm gonna try it out soon.

Sian. I miss the holidays. Never mind, once i can get my own boat..... Incidentally, i saw an inflatable one for $200++

These are my plans for the future.
1. Own a boat.
2. Be a fishing enthusiasts. (The last relxaing sport in the world.)
3. Get Diploma for DMMT
4. Get Post Diploma for Computer Networking
5. Get into University for degree in Computer Science
6. Be part of a Tiger Team
7. Get a starting salary of around $5000. Middle age salary of $9000. Final salary of $12000.
8. Work for Creative, Microsoft, IBM.
9. Start own computer networking security business OR Fishing tackle and Angling store.

Retire at age 60. Die at a time when i'm ripe for heaven. :-)

DHD. The Chapa-Ai Chronicals.

I feel the extreme power of 6.1 Audio. Apparently, so do my neighbours. :-)
Audigy 2 is great. Aiming to get the one with DTS and pro Audio ecoder soon. Creative EMU.

I cleared out a lot data on my HDD the other day, due to certain circumstances. It's empty again.

Maxonline is not bad. I'm getting near full bandwidth speeds. Bearing in mind the server load and routing table. I can get speeds of up to 200 Kbps thru two connections. Speaking of routing tables, my router's DHCP seems screwed up. The lease for an IP thru the DHCP should last at least a day, after which it's supposed to renew itself. It doesn't. Only a hard reset can fix it. Lousy LinkSYS Router. My US Robotics one is better, save for the fact that it's firewall is better and i don't particularly like it to be better. But than again, that's just me. I wonder if i connect a router to another, not as a peer, but as a child, will i get subnets?

Some people fail to realize, even if your ISP or router supports hi-speed network connections, the server where u are getting things from may not be able to handle that. So they blame slow transfer rates on their ISP. Pure naivity. It's amazing actually.
The internet is a shared medium. It's not owned by anyone person.

Any dimwit who falls into the above category, want to share a network hub with me so i can hack you? Too bad i only know how to program local C++ programs. If i could just program for networks..... Oh well, maybe i can learn a few things from the JAVA teacher.

As expected, my mother wanted the modem and router installed in her room... What a bloody control freak. Everything also want. Give dunnoe what bloody fake excuses must be near a computer or whatever shit. OI! I got the certs leh. Don't undermine me.

After a whole lot of shouting, i won. At least i thought i did. New problems arise.
