Let's just call her Gorgeous!

There's a really cute girl in my church. She and I always seem to arrive at around the same time. She's very pretty and knows how to dress well. Well, she knows how to dress lah.. haha.. She's got "a-little-longer-than-shoulder-length" hair. It's dyed a light brown at the ends, and is straight all the way until 3/4 down the end where it ends in "straightened" curls. She's quite fair and has very soft and smooth skin. [I know this because she bumped into me in the elevator. It wasn't really squeezy but somehow she pushed her arm against mine. No joke!!! :-) ]

Although, I must say she does look vaguely familiar. (See para 4. That's the paragraph after the next.)

For me, I find it's always got to do with the hair. I have no idea why. I have numerous memories of girls who I thought looked cute but when they changed their hairstyle, va va voom!!!

Which reminds me of someone that I haven't talked about for a very, very long time. Her name is Dyan.

Dyan is a very short girl. But when you look at her you just wanna take her in a big hug and squeeze her. She's just so darn cute and cuddly. Odd coming from a guy eh? haha... Contrary to popular belief, not all short people look like Rhea Perlman or Danny Devito. Dyan looks like a regular, well not regular, a very pretty human. Only smaller. Way smaller.

Anyway, on the day that our Cat(short for Catechism, i.e. Catholic Sunday School) class reopened after the December holidays, she appeared at the doorway of our class with this gorgeous new hairstyle, and really classy wardrobe. It was like she was the girl next door with the "notch" turned up about ten times. Eye candy...

How her entire family(relatives included) socialise is really quite interesting. I know her cousin through Cat class too. I know her uncle and his wife and their 3 kids through a monthly prayer meeting that I used to go to. I know her parents through my church functions. And finally, I got to know the rest of her extended family through a retreat session that i had attended. An annual retreat that a local(Singapore) retreat centre, SFX Retreat Centre, had been organising for quite a while. Ours was the 22th such retreat and as usual it was held in Sabah, somewhere 3/4 up a mountain that was near to the tall mountain that Sabah is famous for. Kathmandu? Kalimantan? I can't really remember the name right now...

Coincidentally, that was the same year that her entire extended family decided to go for the retreat . It was also the retreat where the most number of youths decided to come, a number of which I already had acquaintances with, from my Church in Tampines. It was also the retreat where the retreat master's mentor decided to come and experience the whole thing. It was also the retreat where a local(Sabah) Catholic school for the mentally disabled decided to pop in. As you can see, a lot happened then. My PSLE results was also scheduled to have been released on one of the days that the retreat was being held, so we had to ask my Godmother to help us take it.

We stayed at the retreat centre itself, in dorms. The place had previously been a minor seminary, a place where they train priests. This centre had no flush toilets. Well, it was the usual toilet, just that the flush wasn't working. The water heater was gas powered. And at night, the cool wind blew thru the windows which was very nice, but wasn't exactly the best thing to motivate you to get up the next morning.

Anyway, with regard to Dyan and her family. Her family came with her, including her little sister, and by little I mean both ways. I'm talking curl-her-up-into-a-ball-and-play-soccer kind of small. Her other uncle and wife with their nerdy, only son, were also there. Their son's very friendly though. Then there's her other uncle and his only son. This guy is really outgoing. Then there's her entourage of friends who practically are her family. Then of course, there is her only auntie and her daughters, one of which is also in my Cat class. A really spoilt girl whose really, let's say, open to things, without actually being, too open. Her name's Krystal.

Anyway, me and Dyan got real friendly at the retreat. And her sister and my brother, well they were friendly in the not so mature way if you get what I mean. Nothing actually happened then. Except for maybe one incident.

We were real talkative one night and while everyone was still praying we had been released from "the youngsters' camp"(A sort of childcare group for the kids while the parents prayed in some hall upstairs. Admittedly, for a number of us, it was a chance to escape the seriousness of the worshipping going on upstairs. We even had some 19 yr olds there). Anyway, we left that "playgroup" early and headed back to our respective rooms. Halfway thru, my bro and I decided to go exploring. Thinking we'd invite the gals along, we walked over to their room. Now as we were approaching their door, we saw a cockroach heading towards it. I blame that stupid cockroach for making me do what i did next. Becuz of my preoccupation with the roach, i forgot to knock. So i burst in to the room, starin intently at the roach, silently cursing it for daring to enter such a place. Then i looked up and i saw here in a very unflattering singlet. Anyway, her little sister who was in the room, looked slightly confused, but her sister waved it off, obviously surprised at the turn of events. As was I. I looked down and mumbled something about the cockroach and then walked off but not before informing them of our plans to explore.

I did have some nice conversations with her though.. Very interesting conversations. And she's very witty. With a real sharp tongue too.. haha... We cracked each other up every now and then, but. The day that we saw each other again in Cat class, after we had returned from that retreat, we were silent. Not a word. As if nothing had ever happened before. Stone cold. I did catch her looking at me on that first day though. After that, no more. Nothing at all. I guess she was pretty pissed. Well, you know me and my trying to be cool, erm.... I mean, my being cool.

From the trip i also met quite a few other ppl, all of whom i have failed to keep in touch with. Including a bubbly South Malaysian who insists they invented Manglish and that Singlish is it's derivative. haha..

Anyway, I went completely off topic there but.. haha... I'd like to talk more about it but it was so long ago...

*Please excuse the number of "retreats" used in this section. :-)

Sometimes my church gets really crowded so I have to stand outside. And other times it isn't, so I don't. I do vaguely remember once when I was inside and I decided I wanted to stand outside. Surprisingly, she went out too. Admittedly so did another guy. (see next para)

I think a whole subculture has developed in my church, a silent clique if you will. We all try to look cool and stuff in the presence of each other. Although, quite frankly, it would seem that I'm the only one trying to be reverent at mass. Oddly enough, they follow my cues. haha.. When I kneel down, they do too! (Certain points during the Eucharistic Celebration we are supposed to kneel down.)(Sometimes when it's crowded, at the appropriate times to kneel down, you're torn between the choice of continuing to stand or to kneel down in a really squeezy place and if the fella in front of you doesn't want to kneel, you're stuck with your face near his ass. Although so far for me, it's been mainly women. haha...)

And from all of my experiences, I can conclude and state what I think I like in a girl.
Intelligence. Should be shorter than me. Must be cute. Must have long hair. Preferably be Chinese. Dyed hair preferred. Must not be conniving and sly and subversive, in other words, must not be like the majority of modern women. :p Being innocent is even better haha... But with innocence, intelligence just ain't there. :p

On a side note, I thought I might just share that I once saw a teenage girl in church wearing a mini skirt, really low, till you could almost see all the way thru "the valley of darkness". It was apparent she wasn't wearing any inner-stuff. Guess what. It was Easter somemore.

I'll keep you updated on that girl from church. My dad did warn me about this kind of behaviour. haha...

Cheers.
FusionStream, out.

p.s. I'm trying to learn Latin and Spanish. Anyone got any pointers?
Ave amascus.
