If life gives you chocolates, hide 'em from your neighbour

Next week is e-learning week which means will be "attending lessons" from home. Cool huh? haha...

It's given me an oppurtunity to finally do mor estuff with my open source project, BlogSuite.

Essentially, it's a custom blog that uses PHP and MySQL and JavaScript. It's going to be very powerful and will support modules so people who want to install plugins don't need to recompile the source or hack anything.

It's technically at the Alpha stage but about 30% of the project still remains at pre-pre-Alpha so I won't be releasing the code on sourceforge it just yet.

An example of a plugin would be my Post Editor. The post editor was done from scratch and is almost perfect. Except for one tiny problem/feature which i have no idea how to implement. And hence, I've also included another post editor and it's open source too. I've tried studying the other editor's code but i couldn't find a way to implement this feature into mine. More on this feature as i progress forward.

Anywayz, here's something interesting for you to do if you've got no life and spend the whole day sitting in front of the computer doing pointless things.

Which is why I've never tried it out myself. :p

Cool Math Trick
1. Grab a calculator (You won't be able to do this one in your head)
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the new Singapore Prefix code-if your number is 6-123-4567, the 1st 3 digits are 123)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

Funny eh.. This one has got something to do with at the point you add in your last 4 digits, it all ties it in somehow...

I'm waiting for one where i only need to input a few numbers to get the rest of the numbers.

The other day I went to school with a splitting headache after having slept for oni an hour. I spent the whole night reformatting and reinstalling my system.

I'm like that. Either I don't sleep, or i sleep at least 6 hours. If it's anything in between, I get a headache. I can't take naps if I'm sleepy.

And what the docs' say about a minimum 8 hours of sleep, that's real man. If i get 8 hours of dreamless sleep, I wake up the next day feeling shiok! haha..

The best part of it all was that this was a day that i could not skip school.

I had a test(I thought i did). I had to do some filming. Had to digitize some stuff.

If i didn't have those things on, I would've skipped school without a second thought.

I was also suppose to do some fishing at my school's "pond" but it was raining so i had to cancel that too..

FusionStream, out.

Yo mama

I've finally been using my PDA's worth of my, erm, PDA and am about 80% to "can't live without it".

The things that people can do are incredible. In fact, the people themselves are. Those people who believe in OpenSource and free software. Brilliant...

I can view Powerpoints, write Word Documents, maintain my spreadsheets. I can even watch and listen to videos and music. I can surf the web. I can send SMSes and initiate phone calls between on my handphone, all on on my PDA. Also, as i finally found out about a little something called RSS that really helped me organize my web surfing experience, I also found one that allowed me to use it thru my PDA.

I recently(yest) just got a free Dictionary for my PDA. Fucking brilliant i tell you.

Within this dictionary, you can search for the word "fuck"(you're talking about me here).

Here's some that got me laughing...

Fucker:
1) (person) Someone who engages in sexual intercourse
2) (person) A stupid despised man.

Fuckhead:
(person) These words are used to express a low opinion of someone's intelligence
Synonyms: blockhead, bone head, dunce, dunderhead, hammerhead, knucklehead, loggerhead, lunkhead, muttonhead, numskull, shithead.

Now this also got me thinking because I know of a fishing club by the name of HammerHead Hunters.. hmm...

And then of course there's the games. Brilliant games. Fucking brilliant Games.

There was once i skipped sleeping at night just to play.

Now however, I feel the need to upgrade. I feel like the current config of my Palm is just too small...

I want one with WiFi access.. I also want one that will allow me to make phone calls directly.

I've yet to find one. Or a program that will allow me to get thsoe things in my own PDA.. My PDA has a loud speaker. And it has a mic. But it can't make phone calls directly.. Go figure.

CS and his gang are doing a "writeup" or something on PDAs for one of their projects. Maybe I'll see what they come up with. Will also see if I can contribute.

In the meantime, I've found ways to "expand" my PDA's usefulness..

My own Plug-and-Play Multimedia Centre. :D

p.s. Those are my old computers btw.. Not the one that i use for everyday stuff.

There's also this new Mozilla/Firefox based browser on the block. The Flock browser they call themselves. Looks promising but it's still in the early stages of development.

Then there was just the other day where i saw this huge couple on the train. Nice to see that dating isn't confined only to thin people. Blame it on the media i guess.

On that same train, I also ended helping an old lady with her handphone. Didn't know how to store a phone number os something. What would these oldies do without us eh?

Then there was the train ride on the way back from school on the same day where i saw this really really pretty girl. Brown hair and very fair skinned and had a nice figure. It looked like she lived in Simei as well... Call me crazy but it's the first time I've seen any pretty girls in Simei at all.. :D

Then on the same day, I saw this fat cat sitting precariously on a windowsill on the second floor of a building. One knock and it would've fell off... I shld've knocked it out eh? haha.. Will take pictures if I see it again.

That day was really fucking filled with stuff man.

Interesting links:
A hippo and it's tortoise mummy
A new way to read RSS feeds.
The super battery(I'm waiting for this one. Fucking brilliant I tell you)

Some stuff that i did for FK(FishingKaki.com)

Will be offline for a while cuz I'm going to do a complete overhaul of my computer(software side).

Cheers

Forgot to post picture... :p

To skip to the CR, click here.

I've just recoded entirely the "music player" that's in the sidebar.

The code I'm using now is something like this.

<span style="font-size:85%;"><object id="MediaPlayer" classid="CLSID:22d6f312-b0f6-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#

The good thing about this is that it allows you great control and even greater room for expansion, so be prepared for some new features in the near future.

07:00hrs Day 1 -> 12:00hrs Day 2

For me, the day started the night before as I couldn't sleep properly. Days spent tying rigs during classes, had left me a great deal of choice in the rigs that i wanted to bring.

And so the day began...

I woke up at about 4am on DDay, reeling from the lack of sleep, yet happy to get up.

After a quick and cold shower, I got myself ready and after about 2hrs of lazing around, I carried my really heavy gear over to Nicks where Vin was supposed to pick us up.

I finally reached Nicks', exhausted from the heavy lifting.

I had brought along:
All the fishing gear I had plus 20 size 2 and 20 size 3 sinkers, 10 of each which were for Ice. I also brought along a big foldable chair, four rods, four rod stands, a bubu, change of clothes, mess tin, wax for cooking, mess tin stand, all the rest of my fishing gear, etc...

Our spirits were high as we made our way to the spot.

When we arrived, we saw that we had the whole place to ourselves.

Everybody quickly unpacked and soon most of our rods were standing proud and tall. No pun intended. :D:P

It was about noon on the first day when I heard my 12ft rod begin to release out line. Then it began to bend till it almost bent 90° but the line wasn't coming out fast enough to ease the strain on the rod and it was already at the lowest possible drag. So, not knowing what it was, I struck figuring if it was some kind of sea creature, I could foul hook it. And if there wasn't any, it was time to change the bait anyway and I always strike before changing baits. :D

Wham! It was like striking against a brick wall. With max drag on, line would occasionally peel off the reel. But there was no feeling. None of that brilliant twitching that you get with a fish on. And relatively speaking, the line was coming in rather easily. So it was unlikely that it was a fish.

And indeed it wasn't. It was the biggest clump of seaweed I'd ever seen, stuck all over the legs of my home-made anti-sangkut grip sinker.

Then my other 9ft rod began to do the same thing. Annoyed that I was probably going to be occupied with removing seaweed for the rest of the day, I rebaited up my 12ft rod, ignored the 9ft rod, and took my remaining two rods, both 6ft, to another location.

Gary had also by now had 2 sangkuts at almost the same spot as me.

Almost everyone else, save for Vin, had by now shifted to another spot. Nick also had cast out his medium light action rod already while he netcasted for baitfish.

It wasn't long before Gary caught a flathead on dead prawns.

While wading through the relatively shallow waters at this new spot, I spotted a half eaten fish, rotting in the water. It looked a bit like an Ang Chor Kee est at around 500 grams. Before it was eaten of course.

Intrigued that I might find more of them, I waded around a litlle more. And indeed I did find some interesting stuff. There were a number of crab claws that littered the sea bed that were big enough to eat. But, I passed. :P

I also found another half eaten Ang-Chor-like fish est at around 400 grams.

While I stood there wondering what happened here and more importantly, if any of their parents or relatives were still around, I noticed a baby stingray right next to my feet. It had a dark cobalt skin and it wasn't moving so I motioned for Gary to pass me my rod stand which had a triangle at the bottom instead of the usual blunt end.

SpearFishing, LG style. Well, it was actually more BlueStream style. :P But then Gary suggested I let it live instead and then the hunter in me disappeared and Dr Rational took his place and I was like, "Crap! What was I thinking?!".

So I tried to scare it away with my foot but it didn't move. It was dead.

So I left with a great many questions still burning in my mind.

Nick had finished his run in getting some bait and was about to do some distance casting with his 6ft rod. As he so well put it, he walks the distance to cast. He walked out about 30-40 metres as it was still relatively shallow(at this point we also realised just how shallow the waters that we cast at were).

As he was walking back after his distancecasting, releasing line as he went along, before he could even put the rod into the rod holder or adjust the drag, he felt a heavy take. Since he was using circle hooks, he didn't need to strike.

As Nick experienced it:

So I just followed where the unidentified object was taking me. It took me for a ride alright, all this while I was releasing the drag bit by bit. There was never a let up in it's pulling power.

I thought to myself, "Siao liao. I finally met my match... I used to muscle my fish up but now it's payback time....."

My first thought was that a big tree trunk could have taken my rig coz if it was a fish there should have been some let up in the run....but with current on its side, I was at a disadvantage....my reel was still screeching....rod bending....simply kinda impossible to reel back this missle....funny thing is that it never changed gear....it just raced all the way....

I had to navigate the water n also over the rest of the kakis lines that were still in the water. It was like a water obstacle course...when I walked to the point of the water breaker, I knew tua kee oredi coz once it goes beyond that i can kiss good bye to the runaway train. bcoz the current is horrendous it makes a sharp turn to the right parallel of the breaker.

Then it happened my line was snagged just before the breaker while .the missle itself had gone beyond it. Vin was standing just on the breaker n I knew I couldn't go any further myself for fear of being swept away n bro Gary also warned me of a drop off that he had spotted. So I handed the rod to Bro Vin to carry on the fight....I physically removed the snag... By then, the missle has gone down with the current....

Then the unthinkable happened... another snag... this time it was on the outside of the breaker, where the really strong current was....

Vin tried getting it out but was afraid that my 15lb line and my 9.80 surecatch rod and my boisterous reel would not be able to take the punishment. So he stuck the rod in a hole in the breaker and wasted. Everyone else had by now also come to see the action.

I was still on the (safe side) of the breaker when i saw the "live-net" stuck on the sand, left behind by the fast receding waters after only 10 minutes. It was quite a distance away and not wanting to miss any action, I raced to put it back in the water.

Then I heard someone yelling. Not loudly at first. Then more voices chimed in. Then there were cheers.

"Nick! Nick! Come and see!! It's a Golden Trevally!!"

At first I thought they were pulling my leg.. But then, as I got closer to the breaker, to my surprise, I was like, "OMG. That's a nice big fish". I just wanna say, "Thanks to all for the support n help in the process of bringing the fish up".

A boga was brought in to weigh the bugger and it weighed in at about 2.9.KG

By now I was rushing frantically to find any rig that I had premade that was similar to Nick's but alas there was none that felt close enough. I always have this problem. Whatever rig I tie, I can never find one that feels right. Even if it's one I've used before.

I made a new rig and tried my luck with the exact same bait as Nick's, a 5cm fish that looked like a wah bik. But luck was not with me.

Nick at this point in time was walking his fish. Literally. He had stuck a clip through the bugger and was walking in the sea, looking for a place to park his dog, er, fish. haha...

There were some brilliant takes and as usual, Gary's rod had one super take which gave the sweet sound of a blisteringly fast turning spool. Unfortunately, I was fast asleep in my chair since Ice had sneakily took over my hammock after I went for my pee break.

Vin also caught 8 groupers. They weren't big enough to warrant “damaging” this spot though so although it was big enough to eat, he released 'em.

Then there was the event where Malau's line went slack. But when he tried to tighten up, there was this humongous take that made his reel scream. He was stumped. By the time he regained his composure, the fish had hit a snag. We spent a long time with both playing the waiting game and using brute force but alas the fish never close enough to the surface for us to have a look and the line unfortunately snapped on one of our brute force attempts.

Early in the morning of day 2, irritated that my one and only bubu had not caught anything, I walked out to the same spot where nick had caught his GT and began looking for crabs. I found a flower crab and whacked the bugger with my bubu.

Score 1 for the bubu.

Apart from those earlier groupers, Vin had also caught and released about 4 parrot fish that he had caught while I was BuBuWhacking... :p

Later on, we had a nice BBQ with the rest of the catches (comparitively negligible - after Nick's catch) including some crabs that Nick had caught in his bubu(really caught, unlike mine).

Gary's flathead was tasty too. As was the coconut juice that we squeezed from some coconuts that we had found.

While we were relaxing and some of us were playing Dai Dee, we saw "The Others" coming. No fish were caught by them as at when we left. heehee. :D

The completion of yet another fun trip. :D

The other day

I was having a haircut the other day at my stylist... well, my hair saloon... heehee
Then this lady that was sitting in the other chair said something like "suai ke"...

Then she went..
"Young man. How old are you?"

bwahahahaha.. I wanted to laugh my ass off sia... :p

So I told her I was XX and then she asked what school did i go to and etc and we talked, all while the stylist, oops, saloonist was cutting my hair. This is something that i have never done before. I tend to move my head around when i talk and... It's not very pretty... :p Admittedly, i don't move my head like the Indian nationals do... :P

Today was my EEL test, a class for which i skipped all but one lesson since school began. I studied last night for about an hour and woke up late today which resulted in me being late for the test.

All I can say is... I finished it in 10 minutes!!!!! 10 FUCKING MINUTES PEOPLE!!!!
My train journey there was like an hour. And the train journey back was like another hour. All for just ten fucking minutes to complete a test. The funny thing was, some of the Indian National students that were in the same class as me and always make lotsa noise and claim to know how to do the test, well, they were stumped.. wahaha..

Then there was the time I was in the train. All of a sudden i heard,
"You don't know how to fucking say sorry ah? You don't know how to fucking say sorry is it? Fucking cebai. Fuck you lah eh.."

Apparently, something happened between some guy who had just sat down next to a guy who had so many metal studs in his face, you could melt them all down, mould them into hubcaps enough for my Dad's car, and still have some leftover.

Some staring took place with the "Non-studded guy" being unafraid to stare right back at "the studded one".

About five stops later, "The studded one" got up to get off the train but not before saying "Fuck you" to the other guy. Then as he stood at the train doors waiting for it to open, he turned back to the guy and shouted "Pussy!!!!!". But it was in a voice so high and whiney, I wanted to laugh my ass off. Think Fantasia Burino but higher pitched and more quavering...

I shook my head. Not so much as because he was being a fucktard, but because even with his actions, in the eyes of those who use it often, it would appear shameful.

As i see it, that the problem these days. Too many people think they're big fucks and want to act like a bigshot and be all high and mighty. Playing the part is one thing. Playing the part well is another. If you want to play the part without actually being one, by all means, go ahead. But please, for Pete's sake, do it well. If you can't, please.. Be a man.. Do the right thing.. Stop it..

There was also the other time in the train where a bunch of Malay guys who were hitting on a Malay girl(also very studded - enough to make about one hubcap). They really talked with her like they were friends. She was smiling at them and all. I only realised that she was a stranger to them when she got off at another station without so much as a wave, and when all the Malay guys peered out the window at her as the train pulled away.

I've also noticed that I've been having more and more conversations with strangers. Why just the other day, there was this guy who was trying to flag a cab from the opposite side of the road. It's not easy to see let me tell you. And even if the taxi driver did see him, he would have to drive about 600 metres just to make a U-Turn to pick him up. The guy caught me looking at him and mentioned.. "Taxi driver not alert hor!".. wahaha.. I tell you.. i wanted to laugh my ass off right there man... This kind of cock and bull story also want to tell me... The guy was obviously embarrassed as he kept on looking at me trying to see what my facial expression was. Stupid excuses make for stupid impressions.. lol.. You can quite me on that...

Then when there were no more cars, he rushed over to the other side of the road.. Let me just say that again.. When there were no more cars, NOR TAXIs, he dashed across the road, arms flailing and all.. wahahaha.... Hilarious.

And oh yeah.. I went for my trip to the Asian Civilisation Museum the other day. I thought i might do a post on it but chose against it. What's so fucking nice about looking at gigantic statues with their tongues sticking out u tell me.. I hate culture. Esp Asian culture. I find them weird and disturbing. I'm asian myself in case you didn't know.

Anywayz, off I go again to do whatever it is that I do when I do what I do..

Ciao...

Island Trip CR coming very soon liao.. Pictures are another thing though.. :p

RSS/Atom Feed is up.

Atom Feed (Click only if you have the program. i.e. opens up the link below with the correct program if you have it)
RSS Feed (Click only if you have the program. i.e. opens up the link below with the correct program if you have it)
Atom XML URL is up... (Is the link to the Atom/RSS file)

An RSS feed is simply a link that allows a program, an RSS Reader, to download updates from a webpage onto your computer. So say if you have 20 blogs that you like to visit, you can just load the RSS URLs into your RSS Reader and read all 20 blogs inside the program, instead of having to manually visit each of the blogs in your browser.

The difference between Atom and RSS is that Atom is supposedly an updated version of RSS. The file formats are also different. But the point is, almost all the programs out there that take feeds support both versions AND Blogger only publishes Atom Feeds.

For your convenience, I've done a little bit of hacking and here are some people's RSS Feeds.

busy again...

Been extremely busy again..

My com konked out on me again. The CPU Fan stopped turning. I later found out that a program that was supposed to monitor my computer's stats was actually the one that was stopping it. Needless to say, I changed to another program.

Just came back from my island fishing trip. It was fun. A post on that to come soon.

FYP's a bitch. That's all i can say. Needs forms here and there. So sian.

May be finally able to start on Jaq's Vid soon enough.

New fishtank is up.

Bought a new fishing rod today for some recceing at my secret spot.. :D

Then there's this thing in FK where some people are spelling the names of fishes wrongly. I thought i might just help them. Then comes along this guy named "goofy" with FK Shooter logo and all right in his post, blasting me for trying to correct some guy's spelling. I had already stated my reasons and even said no offence to the guy but then this joker comes along and shoots his mouth off.

SP Angling club may be a go soon enough.

Storm originally played this for us at our BJT gathering. But then, someone else got a hold of it and posted it on FK.

So i DLed it for all of you to hear...
It's FUCKING FUNNY MAN!!!! wahahaha

Here's the link

Damn funny.. haha

Nick's Giant Prawn

Those tiles are about one foot in length. Nick caught this King/Tiger Prawn while netcasting for bait(gray prawns) for LG.. Thanks for the prawns Nick...

The smaller prawn(King/Tiger Prawn) in the picture is the size that you "average Joes" would consider very big in your dinner. I enjoyed eating his big brother(also in picture).. :D

Cheers.

I finally fixed my computer and it was way easier than I thought. I brought my spoilt mobo to the service centre all the way in Ang Mo Kio and they guy checked it out for me...

He couldn't find out the problem so he replaced one for me. The mobo wasn't under warranty..

Last Saturday I went to Ubin with half of the Lorry Gang and Leatham and his gf for some fishing. We came back empty that day... My "daring" spots didn't pay off i guess...

Next time round I'll probably just bring them to safe places...

Oh yea... I also went swimming... My lure got stuck in a tree in the middle of a very wide river you see. So i swam there and climbed the tree...

I knew the terrain of the sea bed because I've seen it low tide before so i guess it wasn't that big a deal but numerous cuts on my leg beg to differ... lol...

Just got a new fish tank from Uncle Simon... Pretty damn huge. He had another one but i didn't take it cuz it was pretty big. So he threw it below his block.

And oh yea.. I've got a client. :D more details later.. :p

And I'm going to be getting a new rod tube for my fishing.

gtg... Damn super busy now..

ciaoz

4 8 15 16 23 42

Sorry for the late post. My com's been down. My motherboard's blown...

Anywayz, my short fishing trip to Changi Carpark... ended with a doozy, no bites, no hook ups. Sian...

Then there was the other day when 2 malay guys stood in at the wrong side of the train, waiting for the doors to open. The stood right in front of the door. About a few seconds after the doors on the otherside of the train had opened, the realised their mistake, and quickly shotued "paiseh" and went out the door. lol...

Some girls who were near them started laughing their asses off.. lol...

Then there was another day when i was out walking my dog at night when this jogger passed us by. He was FARTING with every step he took. It was all i could do to stop myself from laughing. wahahaha..

Then there was yesterday when i was coming back home, the lift doors opened but i didn't see anybody inside. So i went in and i saw a small boy hiding inside a hidden corner of the lift.. lol...

He ran out sheepishly.

More to come when i fix my com. It's such a pain. And I'm lagging behind in my work now. Jac's video hasn't even been uploaded yet (Com crashed when i was trying to upload it). My MMAS is way behind.. So much for passing every subject this semester.. Shit..

FusionStream, out.
